A high-density large-scale residential neighborhood of 200 apartment
units can seem threatening to the environment. Therefore, I sought a
planning solution that would give the construction mass a friendly and
welcoming appearance that would appeal both to the residents and the
passersby.
The proposed solution was to divide the mass into two
rows of apartment blocks with a park in between.
The outdoor areas were partly combined to form a semi-public park, and
partly attached to the ground floor apartments as private gardens.
All the apartments have access and view to the green public area.
As the facades of the buildings form the boundary that
determines the character of the public area, maximum attention was
given to the very small details that eventually constituted their
whole.
The project consists of a variety of apartments with
only 2 apartment units sharing a lobby on each floor.
The ground floor apartments have private entrances from private gardens
attached to them. The upper floors have apartments of different sizes.
The top floor apartments are designed as penthouses with roof terraces
overlooking the city and the sea at the far distance.
