I saw the film for the first time, I found it incredibly beautiful!
It was really very.. very.. moving experience.
I think it was obviously Art built and I think Master full the way you combined
Issues of tradition with issues of place with issues of architecture
with issues of history and so forth I think that if someone asked me: what’s the film about, I would have to say
It’s really about the essence of HUMAN LIFE.
And what you did beautifully was, the talk about the essence of human life in the film and how it relates to all of these things that I listed: The place of Tsefat, the history of Tsefat, your family, architecture and so forth.
So congratulation, it’s a really remarkable achievement!
Really moving, I will recommend it to everyone I know.

This may be an understatement and in the eyes of an outsider of the
multidiscipline coverage,
it was a feast to the senses.
To be honest, there were scenes where I found myself at the edge of my seat…
I related to the filmmaker's take on what gives a place a soul,
what makes us feel an authentic sense of being "at home" in it. ...
I can almost imagine myself walking in her slow footsteps
but in my own memory of my hometown,
my grandmother's incomparable, unmatched cooking
and in my own experience of the strong influence of my religion as I was growing up.
I felt a profound depth in her architectural practice
and I felt lucky to be allowed a peak in her mind –
blurred lines between religion, art, culture.
How there are no accidents (or there shouldn't be) in design. Beyond function,
there is purpose.
I've read and heard these in the past, but watching it on film,
applied to physical structures and within the context of religion and culture
made me feel like it was spoken to and made to be understood by me.
It has been a while since an unconventional film has evoked this many
emotions and thoughts.
…..from my takeaways, my expectations were exceeded.

From the first few minutes I knew one thing – that I didn't want
this movie to end.
Because it's not “just” a movie.
It is a poignant, beautiful, philosophical, multidimensional, dramatic,
bitter, wise elegy about the world,
which on a daily basis is hidden under patches of peeling layers of time.
And yet so little is enough, and yet so much is needed
- light blue paint that will bring out the pattern of the bygone world from under the plaster, pure awareness,
that just as detail creates a whole, so our memory and love immortalize fleetingness.
Eternal moment - that's what this movie is about…
Watching it, I thought about Proust and Bruno Schulz.
You have created an extraordinary mystery of living memory and love. ...
I do not know how to describe it;
If I had to somehow express my delight, I would probably peel
an apple for you..,
or stir in basin with a stick for a long time,
to conjure up a bright blue color as thanks for this movie.
I like many scenes in this movie.
I was especially touched when, in the last scene, two women recite Psalm 1,
legitimately changing gender from masculine to feminine.
No wonder, after all, it was Mizmor L’Safta.

I was deeply moved by
the presentation, and I am of the opinion - as are Axel and Nora - that you have
succeeded in creating a real work of art.
I remember, for example, the Hebrew sound of
your voice, which gave the film an almost cabalistic atmosphere.
Furthermore, two scenes in particular have stayed in my mind
because of their intensity in terms of action, content, and colors…
the little girl very, very carefully took the carrot juice..
the trolley with the bowls containing the grapes and the
figs, with their absolutely beautiful colors, laboriously
rolling over the rough terrain....
And the dedication with which the food was prepared in the kitchen..
mindfully, sustainably…..
For me the film is more than just personal..
it has several dimensions, such as the mediation of customs
which are also shown and which seem strange to us
and at the same time fascinating...
I hope that a lot of people will have the opportunity to see the film

I was at the screening of your Film at MIFF 2018 Mumbai.
I was overwhelmed
By the re-creation of childhood memories of the place you grew up. At certain
stage of life it happens with most of the people that they create mental images of
the places and people associated with bygone era.
Your film helped me to do exactly that for me.
It is strength of the cinema and images that transcend geographies and cultures.
Unknown languages and rituals do not become obstacles.
Your film successfully portrays Timelessness and simplicity, and repeating
patterns emerging out of man- made structures.

I watched the film 4 times it’s really such a beautiful film, I couldn’t get enough of it..
One of the screenings that I did, I just read the subtitles..
Then going back to the film and knowing that I have already knew
what you are talking about.
It’s a quite film…just listening things happens…no dialogues…unlike most films
Experiences- jam packed with noise and so many things happen simultaneously…
It was a relief and blessing to watch your film over and over..
It was like a prayer in a sense, it had that kind of intensity.
Very slow camera movement, amazing sounds, it had a lot of layers.

It’s a really contemplating experience to see your film.
It really slows you down, and it’s really about embodiment and emotions
-intuition that you bring the viewer into your family.

Reading the subtitles they are very tense.

Yesterday Karin and I watched Nili’s film
It was a wonderful experience. The film had two effects on us:
It stimulated our thoughts, while simoultaniesly it invited us to meditation.
Maybe this is due to Buddhist spirit, the Dalai Lama and Zen being cited.
We were touched to learn about Nili’s grandmother’s hotel
and her laborious life - only once a year, at Passover, she had no guests, went to
the synagogue and celebrated with her family.
By citing Christopher Alexander and - I assume – Nili’s thoughts, the film
presented deep thoughts on architecture.
A bell was ringing in me, when the fundamental and ubiquitous role of patterns
was stressed (“Pattern formation and pattern recognition in Synergetics”).
The courtyard example intrigued me particularly:
emptiness acquires its significance and charm by its surroundings - the transition
softened by arcades – twins of emptiness and solid columns.
Nili’s film is a real present.

The film is beautiful, sensitive and emotionally moving!

The film left me with a feeling of strange distress that I wanted to share ... It
accompanies me still, and also the indecision about what a home is. It is more a
sense of a strong experience that leaves you with question marks….
On one hand - wonderful aesthetics and longing, and on the other -
melancholy that I can't find the reason for.
A sense of penetration into the world of the dead… and a question that constantly
in my mind: What is a home, and if a home is in anyway a place? Is it a nostalgia
for the stones? to the childhood dreams? to the people?
The sense of dreaming in the film …sometimes with a few moving extras than returning
to their freezing, as well as the music accompanying the film was an excellent choice.
Long after the screening, I was still preoccupied with the question of why the distress?
Perhaps because of the feeling that our memory can't really be reconstructed ...
perhaps because of the void? Perhaps because of the lack of life….

Since I watched the film for the first time, its amazing images come back to my
mind and arouse thoughts and longings. You managed to convey in once the
child's gaze, the feeling of the space, the materials of place and time.
The close-ups and the pace of the apple peel, the layers of lime ... the superposition
of the site in the landscape and the apples in the pot,
the rhythm, the music and above all the pure love for a woman that with ten
fingers built a world and good for all people ...
There was not even one piece in the film that did not stir our heart ...
M respect and appreciation ....

I enjoyed it a lot…. The film is well and beautifully photographed, with great
understanding in the light, beautifully edited.
aesthetically pleasing, with an excellent rhythm, with great work of color, light and

like a beautiful paintings, the architectural fable,

There are shots that will sure come back to me later in the week.
The ceremonial, the two women stop to talk to two neighbors standing on the
balconies, the repetition of patterns, plucking the feathers, cutting the herring ....
How many apples did she is peel every day? ...
and how much I discussed with Ilan the layers of the lime…..
As one of the viewers said "the film is not perfect, it is more than that"!
And this is my great appreciation, about your courage. You dared to make the film,
and make it like that. You can't describe such an aesthetic and poetic film as a war
movie, but that's what I thought when I watched it, that one can't underestimate
you as a warrior. That was your answer to the young man's question to "how do
you live in this world"? "Accepting the horrible tension between the dream and
the constrains - the opposing forces". You just do it. Optimism is a moral duty.

I watched the film today and enjoyed it a lot.

A “little film” in the greatest! sense of the word.
When I write "little Film" I meant it was a Zen film for me.
Clear and pure!.
Touches simplicity, which creates a tremendous depth .
I loved its spiritual aspect very much.
Spiritual in the deep sense of the word (and not New Age spirituality) .
For me spirituality is a dominant element in the feeling of ‘home’ and belonging and that is what the film managed to convey….

It was indeed very touching, as if you were inviting us into your intimate reflexions
And childhood memories.
I found it very intriguing, probably because I'm interested in Israel’s life
I felt grateful for this opportunity.
But objectively it took my attention your perception of the small details of everyday life
which makes us feel at home.
Your search for what does make us feel at home, places where we want to come back
again and again that are filled with humanity.
One of the Jewish intellectuals that had to move during the Nazi persecution,
Wrote that home is our language.
But I think your film gazes upon another direction:
Where home is unreachable by language....
There’s a dimension of the Real which escapes to every possibility of nominating which
you compare to the art of Zen,
Saying that you your grandmother didn’t need to know it
To live in the spirit of selflessness.
That intrigued me, as to say, what made you compare her spiritual attitude rather to the
Buddhism tradition than to Judaism mysticism,
And do you see some approximations between them?
Another interesting point was the dynamism between the scenes that happened in the
hotel and in the graveyard,
As if the movie was showing us something that Freud points out to be
The Unheimlich - that familiar-unfamiliar feeling.
This also shows up when the movie highlights that the family's everyday life was always
shared with foreigners. It also gave me the impression that death itself was
being secretly shown as the foreigner par excellence.
The hotel tells not only the history of your family, but also the history of the building,
Where there's a kind of strong condensation between
Religious, educational and nourishing traces.
The boundaries between sacred and secular are not easily distinguished;
The trees that determined that place where not to build…
The way that your grandmother prepared the food is shown as
A kind of spiritual exercise.
And also liturgical times are compared to nature cycles..
The architecture also is related to passages.
The archways are presented as passages between the courtyard and the house,
The courtyard as an actual essential part of the building,
And not something that is left over.
I just moved in to Granada and looked for an apartment
Where I could start feeling at home.
When I visited this first apartment I just felt it,
Although not being able to rationally explain why.
The movie made me reflect on that!
Reminding me of the mysticism I experience at my own grandmother’s house.
In our talk on the city language I also remembered that Freud states similarities
between the works of the psychoanalyst to that of the archaeologist,
And our psyche to the city of Rome.
Having the feeling of a home is a mystery
That as a researcher on mysticism, I believed it's not totally possible to explain.
When you showed us there were some objective things,
I kept thinking how you think that objectivity can be underlined
But the mystery remains?
And you answered, that your hypothesis is
That there are superstructures - patterns that appear repeatedly,
Despite looking different in form, just like Chomsky talk about languages.

I just wanted to say it was fabulous to watch your art in motion.
Your explorations of space, consciousness and oneness were powerful

I watched Nili's film and was greatly impressed.
It shows how art, architecture and living an enlightened life look
when they arise organically as expressions or
"diagrams of the inner human soul."
As far as nonduality, this is a film about practical nonduality
or how human life looks when enlightenment is recognized and valued.
That's what this film shows.
As someone trying to create something artful, ...
I find affinity with every scene in this film,
whether that affinity is with pavement tiles a thousand years old
or the sound and sight of an apple being peeled.
Nili captures the "timeless way" of building anything:
a literal building, a community, a bread roll, a life.
Shining through the film is the light blue whitewash,
about which you say "According to the Kabbalah,
this is the color that purifies you, the inner light that connects you to the heavenly."…..
It succinctly emphasizes the theme that architecture should reveal reality,
not try to create a reality….
This requires a "holistic approach" allowing the act of building
to be an "organic system" which can be recognized in the architecture
of all world culture as "mirroring the diagram of the human soul."
Of course, those themes are also state and exemplified in your film.

The daily tasks as a meditative state , such as the pealing of an apple in your movie

I loved the unhurried pace and the wonderful repetitions of people and place
- especially the street journeys of your child self,
so perfectly undertaken by the young girls.
That walk through the old black and white photo of the town is brilliant.
And the pattern principles that I thought I understood intellectually
became more real and embodied.
It was a day devoted to the idea of our "responsibility to extend the beauty of a place."
It was the first time I have engaged with any aspect of life in Israel with real attention.

I totally loved watching your film.
It was so simple and very deep, emotional movie.
